Rita devoted herself to prayer, penance and works of charity. She feared they would put their desires into effect in accord with the evil custom of the Vendetta. Rita then found that her two sons were entertaining thoughts of avenging their father’s murder. Rita was to undergo another great sorrow when her husband was murdered. In time he was converted, becoming considerate and God-fearing. Her husband caused her much suffering, but she repaid his cruelty with prayer and kindness. Rita wanted to become a nun, but in obedience to her aged parents, she married. She is known as the “Saint of the Impossible” because of her amazing answers to prayers, as well as the remarkable events of her own life. Rita of Cascia (1381-1457) has been one of the most popular saints in the Catholic Church. Who for thy lavishness in granting favors Whose pleadings before thy Divine Lord are almost irresistible, She is a very powerful intercessor, especially known for her help through difficult situations. She later received the head wounds of Christ. They all eventually converted before their deaths.Īfter the death of her husband and two sons, she became an Augustinian nun. With him, she had two difficult children. She married a cruel and abusive man, whom she prayed unceasingly for. This amazing saint led an incredibly holy life.
